Print Europe has been presenting exhibitions of the work of European printmakers for the past five years. Major shows have been held at the Barbican Arts Centre and the Royal National Theatre in London and have also toured to regional galleries and other venues in different parts of Britain.

The Aims

Print Europe's aim is to present good contemporary European printmaking to new audiences in as many countries as possible, and to promote a greater understanding of its various techniques. It encompasses all methods of original printmaking, from the more traditional such as woodcut, engraving and etching to the most recent including silk screen, collogravure and computer print, and often organises printmaking demonstrations as part of its exhibitions. It exists both to help artists to sell their work and to foster a greater awareness of printmaking as an original art form.

The Structure

Print Europe is a non-profitmaking association of artists, with the common purpose of promoting an interchange of ideas between their respective countries. There is no formal membership, no bureaucracy, just an ad hoc programme of exhibitions, organised and run by the artists themselves.
