Printmakers

Irene Scheinmann
 

Studied painting and printmaking in England and France, working at Atelier 63 in Paris and with Julian Trevelyan in London.

An elected member of Trace, the French printmaking association, and of the California Society of Printmakers, she founded Print Europe in 1991.

Landscape is a vital source of her inspiration as a printmaker and as a painter.

As a printmaker, she works mainly in intaglio techniques and has been developing collogravure for the past few years, which she sometimes combines with carborundum.

The New Wilderness 1991-1995, a series of five etchings in a new Gallery on the Print Europe Site from 13th November 1998.

 

Article on the Julian Trevelyan Award

On 20th October 1999 Print Europe published an article about the Award written By Irene Scheinmann in which she explains his influence on her own work and that of a generation of printmakers, and also how and why she and Mary Fedden, Julian's wife, set up the award.

The article is fully illustrated with works by Julian Trevelyan and Irene Scheinmann.

The article also provides entry details for the National Print Exhibition as the winner of the award, worth £1000, is selected from entries to that exhibition.
